01/05/20 Kirkham and Wesham Club Day Announcement

A Message regarding Club Day:
Kirkham & Wesham Club Day Committee
Following the Government Guidance for the COVID 19 pandemic.
It is with great sadness that Kirkham & Wesham Club Day Committee have decided to cancel this years’ annual procession of witness through Kirkham & Wesham towns which was scheduled for 13th June 2020.
Although our colleagues in Lytham took this decision a couple of weeks ago - Government projections are that the peak of the COVID pandemic is to occur during the Fylde Club Day period. Kirkham & Wesham is only one of a series of local annual Club Days.
As this COVID 19 pandemic continues the Government are instigating more stringent measures to try to ensure everyone’s safety. The significant impact of these measures makes it impractical to hold the annual Kirkham & Wesham Club Day.
Everyone affected by this decision, Participants - adults and children , Rose Queens, Local traders, Bands, and support activities such as Road Safety, Marshalling, Scouts etc will understand that our priority is for the safety of all concerned.
These same groups and persons spend a good deal of time in preparation for the annual Club Days and therefore the decision needs to be taken now.
To the best of our knowledge cancellation of Kirkham & Wesham Club Day processions has only occurred during the World Wars.
Kirkham & Wesham Club Day committee wish everyone good health and we look forward to holding the annual procession again on 12th June 2021.
Kirkham & Wesham Clubday Committee
Together let’s keep Club Day and our local traditions alive.
